Rally competition is gaining momentum across the ASEAN region, with Thailand at its centre. The ASEAN Rally Championship, led by the ASEAN Automobile Federation, maintains a four-round calendar in 2026 with events in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Thailand's concentration of Japanese manufacturer assembly plants has created a distinctive sponsorship structure that leverages Japanese brand recognition in competition.
Thailand has the largest motorsport competitor population in Southeast Asia, with an estimated 4,200 FIA licence holders — approximately 1.4 times Malaysia's figure and roughly twice Indonesia's. Of these, an estimated 800 are rally competitors, with the remainder distributed across circuit racing (Thailand Supercar, Thailand Super Series), off-road, and drag racing.
