Der Turbo versagte ohne Vorwarnung. Die Leistung brach mitten in der Prüfung ein und kostete die Besatzung weit über eine Minute — ein Rückstand, von dem sich die meisten Besatzungen nicht erholen würden. Dennoch fuhren Karna Kadur und Kumar Ramaswamy (Arka Motorsport) weiter.

Bei der 49. South India Rally — APRC Runde 2, 1. Mai 2026 — überquerten sie die Ziellinie in 1:59:55.5. Auf der gleichen schwierigen Prüfung hatte der dreifache APRC-Champion Gaurav Gill mit einem eigenen mechanischen Defekt aufgegeben. Jeet Jhabakh und Musa Sherif wurden Zweite; Edgar Vigo Lopez und Fatima Ameneir aus Spanien belegten den dritten Platz.

Die Entscheidung, mit einem defekten Auto bis ins Ziel weiterzufahren, machte den Unterschied. Rallye ist kein Sport, der nur die Schnellsten belohnt.

In recent years the event has been incorporated as an official APRC round, transforming it from a domestic competition into an international stage drawing Asia-Pacific's fastest rally crews.

Gravel rally culture is not widespread in India. Sprint events on sealed roads dominate the domestic calendar. Against that backdrop, a gravel-based APRC round in the hills of Karnataka is an anomaly — and a significant one. The South India Rally gives Indian fans something they rarely see: a proper gravel rally on home soil, at a level that connects them to the wider world of international motorsport.
