At the Plant Hire Forest Rally in Busselton and Nannup, Western Australia, on May 22–24, Scott Pedder claimed overall victory. Behind him, a moment the ARC has rarely produced: Lewis Bates second, Harry Bates third — sons of five-time champion Neil Bates standing on the same podium together.
Scott Pedder and co-driver Glenn MacNeall took overall victory at ARC Round 2, the Plant Hire Forest Rally in Busselton and Nannup, Western Australia, on May 22–24. The result drew immediate attention not for its winner alone, but for the podium beneath him: Lewis Bates and Anthony McLaughlin second, Harry Bates and Coral Taylor third. The Bates brothers — sons of five-time ARC champion Neil Bates — stood on the same podium at the same rally. Harry had dominated Round 1 in Queensland, winning eleven of fifteen stages. In Western Australia, it was Lewis who pushed him down a step. The championship is already shifting.
