Es war mein Onkel — ein gesamtjapanischer Dirt-Trial-Meister —, der mich zu diesem Sport gebracht hat. Ich liebte schon immer WRC und Rally und träumte davon, auf Schotter zu fahren. Als er mich das erste Mal auf Dirt einlud, trafen mich zwei Gefühle gleichzeitig: Angst und Begeisterung. Dieser Moment wurde zum Ausgangspunkt für alles, was ich heute tue.
Ich begann mich nach meinem Umzug nach Hokkaido ernsthaft mit Dirt Trial zu beschäftigen. Ich hatte zuvor an Asphalt-Gymkhanas teilgenommen, aber das erste Mal auf Dirt zu stehen fühlte sich völlig anders an. In dem Moment, in dem mein Körper verstand, dass Grip etwas ist, das man sucht und nicht etwas, das einem gegeben wird, erfasste ich die Tiefe des Sports.
