It was my uncle — an All-Japan Dirt Trial champion — who first brought me to this sport. I had always loved WRC and rally, dreaming of driving on gravel, and when he invited me onto dirt for the first time, two things hit me at once: fear and excitement. That moment became the starting point for everything I do today.
I got seriously into dirt trial after relocating to Hokkaido. I had competed in tarmac gymkhana before, but standing on dirt for the first time felt completely different. The moment my body understood that grip is something you search for rather than something given to you, I grasped the depth of the sport.
